A child's growth is dependent on the nurturing of their roots
Here at Inch by Inch, we foster rich learning experiences that support the diverse needs and interests of each child, while preparing them to be confident and successful in the world.
Believe it or not, but 90% of a child's brain development occurs by age 5! Meaning, early childhood education can have a major impact on a child's growth and development. Our goal is to nurture the development of each child, support their social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs, and build confident and active learners.
We strongly believe that children are unique individuals with different ideas, values, interests and learning styles. We also believe that children are curious beings, with the capability of learning at their own pace, in their own way. Children need autonomy and opportunities to explore their world. We create an environment and develop a curriculum that supports the growing interests of the students in our care, and allows them to thoroughly explore and investigate these curiosities. Being outdoors is also an essential piece of our curriculum. We have a large natural playground, with ample space to play, explore, and discover the natural world.
Please contact us through the website to schedule a tour. This is the first step. :)
Unfortunately, our kitchen is not equipped to cook full meals. We provide a hearty breakfast snack and an afternoon snack. Students bring lunch from home.
Our primary curriculum is HighScope. Our educators develop custom curriculum, based on the student interests and areas of skill development. Our curriculum is designed to support and build skill sets in the following areas:
approaches to learning, social and emotional development, physical development and health, cognitive development, language, literacy, and communication, mathematics, creative arts, science and technology, and social studies.
At Inch by Inch, we are proud to maintain low ratios. In our Transition classroom we have 10 students with 3 staff. In our preschool classes, we keep a 1:7 ratio, and often maintain lower.
During late Spring and Summer we have 3 scheduled outdoor times. During Fall and Winter, we have 2 scheduled outdoor times. On days when weather is a factor, we still make every effort to go outdoors at least once.
Absolutely. We believe that children gain skills in all developmental areas, whether inside or outside. Since children construct knowledge through experiences with the world and the people around them, learning occurs in various domains!
